Chapter 171
Chapter 171
Owen smiled, leaned in closer to Hailey, and kissed her lips softly. “Not supposed to be like this?
Hailey’s heart raced.
She knew she shouldn't feel this way, but she couldn't stop her heart from fluttering for him.
“Hailey, you shouldn't have kept this from me,” Owen murmured, his voice low and tender. “When we met and
fell in love, we didn’t know about this connection. We were just two ordinary people, falling in love. We didn’t
break any rules
“But...”
“There's no ‘but.” Owen lifted his hand and pulled her into his embrace, his fingers gently brushing through her
soft, long hair. “Hailey, as long as we don’t speak of it, no one will ever know.”
Hailey’s heart skipped a beat. She grabbed Owen's wrist and pulled her head up from his chest, her eyes filled
with confusion and fear. “Owen, what are you going to do?”
Owen tenderly caressed her cheek, his gaze dark and intense. “I'll handle this.”
“Owen!” Hailey’s voice trembled.
“Trust me,” Owen said quietly, his tone calm as though he had already figured everything out.
Hailey looked at him, biting her lip slightly. She had no idea what was happening anymore. After two years, she
couldn't read Owen the way she used to. When he wanted to hide something, she couldn't see through it at all.
Owen smiled gently, his handsface full of warmth. “You're still weak. The doctor said you're anemic and
you've had a heat stroke. Haven't you been eating properly lately?”
Hailey pressed her lips together. “The weather's been so hot... | couldn't eat.”
“I'll have the housekeeper make slight dishes to help with your appetite tomorrow,” Owen said softly. What
Hailey had feared and worried about seemed like nothing to him.
Hailey sighed deeply as she looked at him. She wasn’t sure how Owen managed to stay so composed, but she
felt like she was no longer able to return to the way things were.
The room felt warm, so Owen turned on the air conditioning to a comfortable temperature before pulling her into
his arms and onto the bed.
Hailey’s body resisted, but her body couldn't push him away.

It had been so long since they had been this close. If they stayed apart forever, Hailey could endure the pain of
separation.
But after two years, they were tangled together again.
And even during her amnesia, she had once again fallen for him.
She couldn't escape.
Hailey closed her eyes and allowed herself to enjoy the warmth of their reunion.
Owen's embrace was warm, comforting, and safe.
Hailey had just woken up, but she couldn't sleep anymore.

She lifted her head, staring at Owen's perfect face. Even though she had seen it countless times, she still
couldn't help but marvel at how well the creator had shaped his features.
How could anyone create such a beautiful man?

Owen's calm and composed expression made him look almost angelic. His hair was neatly trimmed short, his
long eyelashes brushed against his high, straight nose. His lips were thin, and his face had sharp, defined angles.
His skin was naturally fair, as if no matter how much sunlight he was exposed to, he wouldn't tan.
Two years had passed, and aside from looking a little thinner and his demeanor colder, he seemed to have
hardly changed at all.
Hailey gazed at him for a long time, still feeling the srush of emotions as she did two years ago.
After everything, she thought she would never fall for anyone again, especially after experiencing her past life.
But fate had brought her back to Owen.
She didn’t know when, but she had completely fallen for him.
Hailey hated her own inability to learn from her past mistakes. One moment she was terrified, unwilling to fully
give herself to him, and the next, she found herself falling for him again, telling herself that he was worth
everything.
Maybe this time, she wasn’t making the wrong choice.
He had waited for her for two years, maybe it
was tto take the leap.
Hailey couldn't help herself. She reached out and lightly touched Owen's face.
Owen's eyes fluttered open, and his gaze landed on her face with
a
deep intensity.
They locked eyes, and Hailey’s every emotion was laid bare before him.
“Hailey,” Owen whispered, his voice soft but heavy. He rolled over, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead.
Hailey shivered and closed her eyes.
The room grew warmer, and Hailey kicked off the blankets, her slender arms wrapping around Owen's neck.
Owen's expression remained cold, but there was a flicker of restraint in his eyes. Sweat beaded on his forehead,
and his Adam’s apple moved as he lowered his head to kiss her lips once again.

Hailey was carried to the bathroom by Owen, where he helped her rinse off her body. She felt completely limp,
her body burning from the intimacy they had just shared.
After her shower, she lazily rested in Owen's arms.
It had been so long since they had been this close. Their bodies, pressed together, made them feel completely
intertwined. Their hearts beat in sync, and for the first tin a long while, Hailey felt completely dependent on
someone else.
There would be no one else who could give her this feeling in her entire life. No one else but Owen.
As long as she was with him, Hailey could rest easy, trust him completely.
She didn’t need to worry about anything. All that mattered was being with him.
Owen gently played with her hair, the restlessness and anxiety that had previously lingered within them both
now completely silenced by the shared intimacy.

Even if she hated him, he would do whatever it took
But reality was far better than he had anticipated. Hailey didn’t need him to do anything-hewn wing toy with an

A deep sense of satisfaction filled Owen's chest, a sweet, aching warmth in his heart.
He looked down at Hailey, still asleep in his arms, her face peaceful and serene.
Hailey Dalton closed his eyes and fell asleep in his arms.
She had faint purple bruises on her neck from his kisses, her skin as pale as snow, her face calm, resembling
demje beauty.
Owen wasn't tired at all. He gazed at her for a long while before leaning, down to kiss her again.
Her body stirred, and Hailey opened her eyes, groggily slapping him across the face.
“What are you doing?” she asked, blushing as she hastily put on her clothes and pushed Owen's shoulder with a
forrowed brow. “Go to sleep, I'm so tired,”
Owen, with a wounded expression, said, “You hit me.”
Hailey blushed, feeling embarrassed. “It’s not like you didn’t move around.”
“I wasn’t moving around. | was just helping you put your clothes back on,” Owen said innocently, completely
lying through his teeth.
Hailey couldnt help but reach out and pinch him. “Shameless.”
Owen caught her hand and kissed it, his voice full of feigned sadness. “I can’t sleep, Hailey...”
Hailey, completely fed up with his teasing, said, “Then what do you want?”
Owen's hand slid down to her waist, his eyes burning with desire.
“No, | just want to sleep.” Hailey pushed him off and wrapped herself up in the blankets, scooting to the edge of
the bed.
She was exhausted and had no energy to play along with Owen's antics.
Owen sat up, grumbling as he pinched her face before crawling over to pull the blankets back around them both.
