Chapter 795 After Edith took a beating from Jareth that left her with two broken ribs, she found herself in a slightly better spot than Glynnis in the detention center. At least she got a solitary cell and didn't have to endure the humiliation of cleaning toilets or drinking urine.
Each day she'd cough up blood, too weak to even shout, just weeping and lying on the stark, unforgiving cot like a corpse.
"Help me. I'm gonna die. I drank blood from someone with AIDS. I'm gonna catch it. Save me, please!" Glynnis' cruel words worked like a charm. The mere thought of them made Edith double over in vomit, her days tinged with unending dread.
But nobody cared. Not a single soul. She'd suffered through to today.
When she heard she'd be released for medical care, sent to a decent hospital, Edith shot up in her bed like a phoenix reborn, her laugh-cry spectacle performed in front of guards and lawyers.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Hahaha, I knew it. I just knew Grandpa and Mom wouldn't abandon me! I knew it!" Her laughter, tinged with a wild, bloodshot frenzy, "Jareth wantsdead? He's dreaming! Hahaha." The unregenerate, slow-witted look even made the prison guards wince.
Her lawyer didn't dare break the news about Barry's passing, fearing it might send her into a rabid frenzy, and they'd all need rabies shots then.
So, he patiently said, "Ms. Fairhaven, the police transport to the hospital is waiting outside. Please, it's tto go." "Police transport? Didn't Mom send a car for me? Why should I go in a cop car?!" Edith questioned fiercely.
The lawyer, barely containing his frustration, explained, "Ms. Fairhaven, you are being released for medical care, not acquitted. You remain a suspect and will be prosecuted during your hospital stay." "Useless!" Edith pointed at him, cursing like a fishwife, "Can't handle a simple task, and we hired you just for you to muddle around?!" The lawyer bit back a curse, wishing her ill fate.
Handcuffed, Edith was escorted out of the detention center by two officers.
The weather had turned; dark clouds loomed oppressively overhead. But Edith looked up greedily, taking in deep breaths of fresh air.
Ah, freedom was close. Being able to leave that stinking cell meant she'd surely cout unscathed, above the law.
After all, she was the pampered child of her grandpa and mom, the daughter of the Fairhaven family! Edith climbed in the police van; with two officers escorting, they headed to the designated hospital. Sitting in the back of the car, she allowed herself a moment of rest, dreaming of carefree days ahead.
Did Jareth really think he'd make her pay? He had turned boneheaded after getting in a relationship! Not only would he fail to touch her, but Grandpa would never forgive his betrayal. At that time, his CEO dreams would be disillusioned. Lost in thought, Edith dozed off.
The van left the city, entering the bridge tunnel. As it plunged into the darkness, the surveillance cameras above ceased their vigil.
Suddenly, a screeching noise - both front tires on the left side burst, and the van lost control and crashed against the wall. The left car door was dented, and the head got totally destroyed; too horrible to look at.
The officers, buckled in, were mostly unharmed. But Edith, on the other hand, was in a mess, her face swollen from impact; she screamed as the twisted metal drew blood.

Edith, far from scared, looked eagerly at the man in a black trench coat and mask, "Did Grandpa ask you to save me?! It's he who sent you here, right?" "Ha, to save a monster like you?" The man smirked coldly, "I'm not that cheap." Edith, eyes contracting violently, trembled; her whole body froze, "Who are you?!" He leaned in, slowly approaching this dreadfully twisted face that was drained of color, his gaze oppressive, "I am the commander of demons and wrathful spirits."
When Edith woke again, she didn't know where she was. Chained and suspended from the ceiling, her prison garb was nowhere to be found; there was merely the dirty underwear left. In the windowless, icy room which was probably a basement, her teeth chattered, her body shaking.
"Help, somebody help me!" She struggled and cried unceasingly, "Grandpa! Mom! save me!" Then suddenly, the door opened. Three burly men entered from outside, tore off her scant clothing, and brutally assaulted her.
Her pathetic screams echoed in the dark. Staring at the dim light above, beaten and broken, she could only. endure the savage onslaught. As if that unbearable torment was dragging her in the hell tand tagain the moment she was about to climb out of it. Tlost meaning. Eventually, the men were satisfied and left, tossing a coat over her bleeding private parts.
Edith felt her body get chopped into half; clinging to the coat, she crawled forward slowly, sobbing wretchedly.
Then, those chilling footsteps approached. A pair of pristine shoes bX stood before her. She struggled to look up with those swollen eyes. Edith gasped for air ferociously, eyes bloodshot.
"How does it feel, being assaulted, Ms. Fairhaven?" Jareth's voice was cold, his smirk cruel, "You tormented Marilla for three years. I had three men return the favor. Fair is fair." mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLliI0fiflO&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLliIofifl0&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1
